Il Tango Brucia is a monologue dedicated to a great love: tango, which the artist has been practising constantly for eight years. This performance piece was created during a period of intensive study in Buenos Aires. The text of the monologue is a tense and dreamlike collection of notes from tango nights spent in the Argentine capital: streams of consciousness, notes on the technicalities of tango and fragments of conversations with dancers, musicians and regulars of this world. Tango, a complex form of dance but also a form of lived subculture, is described as a form of self-discovery, perhaps a kind of authenticity, in the continuous oscillation between the relationship with one’s own body, the body of the other and space.
Between hyper-presence and fading away, between love and struggle.
